Sometimes, I wonder about people.

As I sit here in my college library, observing and listening to the people around me, I wonder sometimes how people have social lives. I know this might sound mean or rude, but I'm serious. The way people talk to and treat others nowadays, it's a miracle some of them even HAVE people to talk to.
Just recently I was sitting at a table next to a girl and her guy friend. He was relating some story about a girl he likes. His friend, in turn, replied to him, "Girls are just heartless. We're all bitter. It's hard to find a girl with a heart. You'll never find the perfect girl, dude. Just sayin." At first, I almost got mad. What right did she have to make assumptions about all girls? But I realized I was only angry because her perception of the world was so skewed. I suppose now I almost feel sorry for her. I couldn't imagine living in a world where I believed everyone was so bitter, and nobody would ever find the perfect person for them. Now, I do realize at this point that she probably actually liked her guy friend, and was bitter with his stories on other girls for that reason. But to understand the world in such a narrow minded way confuses me. Love is something open to everyone, but only if you're open to it. Hopefully one day she will learn that.
To me, I think the way society views the world nowadays is bitter. I mean that is the message perpetuated by our media, is it not? I'm not trying to be some radical hippie that thinks we should all just hold hands and get along, but the world isn't so bad. Love exists if you want to find it. Not all girls are bitter just because some are. And guys, if you believe you won't ever find the perfect girl, stop it. She exists. You just have to be patient. Don't jump ship for a girl just because you're afraid nobody else will come along.
I should stop now while I'm ahead and start in on relationships. Any who, I was just surprised on the way some people perceive things. I hope your view is happier. If not though, just remember there's always a bright side to life. You've just gotta look up long enough to find it.

Till Next Time,
Kaya
